Today marks the 12th anniversary of an emotional
day for many of us as Americans, I recall being on the air and having someone
call and say a plane flew into the World Trade Center. The studio had a black
and white tv so we turned it on, it was a punch to the gut, shock and awe was the feeling, here a turning
point in American history was playing out live on TV. I recall picking up my son from school and
trying to figure out how to talk to him about what had just happened. I can still picture the images of the planes
hitting the world trade centers over and over again. I had just been in Boston two weeks prior and
thinking and saying out loud that there is no security here. The days, weeks, and even months after this tragedy
we as Americans pulled together. We flew
our flags high, we said hello to our neighbors and held the door for others
around us, we were actually polite to each other. Why does it take a kick in the pants to have
this happen, we pulled together again after the Boston Marathon too. Why can't we just like and respect our
neighbors all the time, Instead of after- life- altering events?
